Manchester, UK 1964 by Brian Smith.  This great photo was sent to me by Ernie Hawkins, based out of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.  Ernie studied with the Reverend.  His 1996 compact disc, 'Blues Advice' features his versions of the Gary Davis favorites, 'Samson & Delilah' and 'Cocaine' and what is perhaps the only recorded version of 'Penitentiary Blues' as well as cool versions of Blind Blake, Skip James, Son House and Willie McTell songs. an oil painting by Michael J. The back of the card has the address of the nursing home in Queens, NY where Anne Davis was residing at the time.  Michael Castle was a student of the Reverend's who was also married by the Reverend- at the Reverend's house in Queens in the late '60s.
